4. High carb diet
A high carb diet is also linked to an increased likelihood of diabetes. Carbohydrates are the foods in our diet that the body can most quickly get sugar from. They are digested and absorbed far quicker than proteins or fats. As such, they release in a very sudden spike in blood sugar, rather than a steady trickle of it.
This means that the body will consistently be producing large spikes of insulin, followed by nothing, which can damage its ability to produce and use the hormone, eventually leading to insulin resistance of diabetes. Avoid this possibility by eating fewer carbs, or switching to complex carbs.
