12 Amazing Exercises For People With Diabetes

If you have diabetes, you have heard this a million times before: you must exercise, you must lose weight and keep a healthy lifestyle

This is a general rule for everybody because we all can benefit from being active, using the muscles of our body and training a bit here and there. However, if you do have diabetes, you will benefit from regular exercise even more than others. If you keep an active life, you will help control your blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and heart disease.

Having diabetes doesn’t mean you can’t exercise, actually, it’s the other way around, you should do it regularly. However, it also means that you need to take a couple of extra precautions when engaging in physical activities.

Your body isn’t the best at regulating your blood sugar and you might experience hypoglycemia or some other alteration if you don’t take care of yourself.
Just as you do with food and medication, you should design an exercise program and stick to it. Sudden bursts of activity might affect your sugar balance, but a rational and well-crafted exercise routine will help you stay fit and keep the effects of your diabetes under control. Here is a list of great exercises for people with diabetes.

1. Jogging.

This is great for virtually anyone and you can choose your preferred setting. If you live in or close to a nice location where you can jog around for a while, then it might be the best option for you. Parks, forests, and fields can be great for jogging, and you get in contact with nature which is always a plus.

If that’s not the case, you can always opt for a treadmill, be it at the gym, or by purchasing your own. Remember that jogging is a resistance activity, and as such, you should start with lower impact sessions, and only increase difficulty once your body is becoming more fit.
