6. Dark Patches
Quite a few people with diabetes have patches of dark skin on their bodies. Generally, this will happen in the folds and cracks of your skin such as your knuckles, groin area, armpits, and more. You may mistake this for dirt, at least until your next shower, but you will not be able to wash it off.
It can have a velvety or bumpy appearance at times. You may also experience skin tags, although these are not necessarily a sign of diabetes. Obesity can cause skin tags as well.
