2. Type 2 diabetes

This is the most prevalent form of diabetes. An estimated 90 percent of the world’s diabetic population has type 2 diabetes. With this condition, the body doesn’t create enough insulin in order for it to function properly, or the cells within the body don’t respond to insulin.

Unlike those with type 1 diabetes who must take insulin, those with type 2 have options when it comes to managing the condition. Some people are able to control it by modifying their diets, losing weight, exercising, and sticking to an exercise regime. They can also take insulin injections.
