4. Vomiting
You vomit when you are in the mid-to-late stages of ketoacidosis for the same reason that you feel nauseous. There isn’t enough potassium salts and sodium in the body, which can knock your internal system off balance and lead to severe bouts of vomiting.
Again, this is something that is difficult to base a diagnosis on but combined with some of the other symptoms listed here, or when presenting in someone that has an elevated risk for diabetes, it cannot be ignored. Ketones poison the body and vomiting from DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) can be triggered by anything from missing a dose of insulin to a particularly stressful day.
