5. Unrelenting thirst
Another extremely common symptom of diabetes is an unquenchable thirst. This symptom is attributed to the increased need to urinate more than usual. As the body rids itself of the glucose that has been trapped in the bloodstream through urination, there isn’t enough fluid left for the rest of the cells of the body to absorb.
When fluid is lost, it needs to be replenished. This triggers an intense thirst, as the body is alerting the individual that its fluid levels need to be replaced quickly. Once glucose levels return to normal levels, the increased thirst subsides.
