Nausea and vomiting is another combination that you should be aware of. When your body burns fat because it cannot process glucose properly, it makes ketones in your body. When you have too many of these ketones in your bloodstream, you can experience a life-threatening illness called ketoacidosis.

This makes you nauseous and wanting to vomit. The problem is, people often think that nausea and vomiting are due to stomach flu or some other innocuous cause. A good way to test it is to find out if you have sweet-smelling breath, which is another sign of elevated ketones.
