5. Greek yogurt
Most people know that dairy is rich in calcium which can strengthen bones and teeth. What isn’t so obvious is that low-fat dairy products, such as yogurt, can prevent diabetes.
One study found that those who consumed low-fat dairy products regularly saw a 9% lower incidence of Type 2 diabetes. Many dairy products are high in fat, which is the reason yogurt, which is relatively low in calories and is a probiotic with “good” bacteria for gut health, is the preferred choice. Yogurt has a low Glycemic Index (GI) which measures how quickly the food can raise the blood sugar.
