3. Women Who Previously Had Gestational Diabetes
If you have had gestational diabetes during an earlier pregnancy than there is an increased chance that you are going to get diabetes during pregnancy again. In addition, there are a few other pregnancy factors that can put you at increased risk as well.
For example, if your baby weighed more than 9 pounds upon delivery, then you are in the high-risk group. You also have an increased risk for gestational diabetes if you had a stillbirth that had no explanation. As well as being at risk for future gestational diabetes, women who have had at least one pregnancy with diabetes are at increased risk of developing Type II diabetes later in life.
