A metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome develops when a women’s body undergoes an imbalance in hormones. This condition can result in irregular menstrual periods and issues with fertility.
Other symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome can include hair loss, the development of facial hair, unexplained weight gain, acne, darkening of the skin, and depression. Those who have polycystic ovarian syndrome are more at risk of developing diabetes. While polycystic ovarian syndrome may not be a symptom that is associated with diabetes, it is an important sign that can indicate a woman may develop diabetes at some point.
