“Asparagus is my favorite food,” said no one ever. But just because a food tastes like boiled gym socks doesn’t mean that it cannot be amazing for diabetes. In all fairness, if you prepare asparagus correctly it can taste really good.

A 2012 study in the British Journal of Nutrition showed that not only can asparagus help to keep your blood sugar levels where they are supposed to be, but it can actually cause your body to produce more insulin. Asparagus contains key antioxidants that your body needs and is suggested for everything from diabetes to heart disease and cancer.
