3. Diabetes in the UK Is Half What It Is In the United States
Whatever they are doing in the United Kingdom to slow the spread of diabetes, they are doing a good job. With a population of around 65 million, only around 3.5 million people in the UK have diabetes, making it around 5% or about half the prevalence of the disease in the United States.
However, the disease is definitely getting worse. The National Health Service has estimated that the number will jump to 6.2 million by the year 2035, and experts are predicting that NHS will spend nearly 20% of its budget on the disease.
