It is important to get enough Vitamin D if you suffer from nerve pain. Vitamin D is called the “sunshine” vitamin because your body literally absorbs it from sunlight.
Although some food, such a dairy, is fortified with Vitamin D, it can be difficult to get sufficient amounts from food alone, so it is a good idea to get out once and a while and get some sunlight or take supplements if the weather is consistently cloudy.
One British study found that those who had sufficient intake of Vitamin D reported less nerve pain than those with diabetic neuropathy who lacked the sunshine vitamin.
